Specialist Mentoring

Empowering Young People Through Effective Mentoring
Wipers delivers specialist 1:1 mentoring for young people in and leaving the justice system. We work with young people on referral orders and youth rehabilitation orders, in custody and on release, under probation supervision, and with those at risk of entering the system for the first time — alongside care-experienced young people navigating the move to independence.
Our mentors are credible messengers: practitioners who share the backgrounds and, in many cases, the experiences of the young people they support. We take a relationship-based, person-centred approach, working around the clock including evenings and weekends, meeting young people where they are rather than where a service expects them to be.
We deliver this work in partnership with the Ministry of Justice and London Probation Region, Junior Attendance Centres, and Youth Justice Services and children’s services across London.
We support individuals with the following activities:

Settling into a new placement — care and resettlement

Accessing local youth services

Through-the-gate support on release from custody

Family contact arrangements

Positive activities during school holidays
